What We Believe

Community Roots Collaborative (C-ROOTS) was formed in 2017. Today it is a group of dedicated community members from all walks of life. We have put our hearts, efforts, and finances on the line in order to make the dream of building affordable tiny homes for our neighbors a reality. The lack of affordable housing has become a health crisis. We feel that in order to achieve a path towards stability and wellness one must have a permanent roof over their head.

We have 3 phases of construction occurring over the next 12 months. We plan to have 21 permanent small homes built and operating by August 2021.

Frequently Asked Questions

All our homes are 300 sq. ft. tiny homes. They are all equipped with kitchen, full bath, bedroom, washer/dryer. They are designed with the intention of using every square foot of space.

We currently have only one model which is a  300sq ft. 1 bedroom.   The current model can fit 1-3 residents.   Small families will be a little tight but comfortable. We offer homes for couples with a single child or single parents with up to two children can fit this model.  Our units have an additional 120 sq ft loft space that can be converted into a second double bed.   We will be looking at different models and sizes for our next future development.  More options to come soon!

  • Currently all homes will be leased.  We are discussing and exploring as a board future equity and ownership models.  We will update in the future when that has been determined
  • Yes!  We will have an affordable leasing model in place which will offer the lowest base rent in the Greater Clark County area for a 1 bedroom.  In order to lower the barriers more we will not be conducting rental history background,  or requiring first and last month deposits.  Each home will also come with solar on the roofs thus virtually eliminating electrical utility costs.

Community Roots Collaborative provides a blended community to persons who are referred from our partners. Our partners continue to support the residence with wrap-around services while we ensure safe and secure housing. Fruit Valley Terrace offers residents the ability to sustain a level of self-sufficiency and space for personal growth that will help both the individual and their neighbors sustain their success throughout their lives

The community will be guided based on principles, values, standards, and criteria of behavior that will guide the decisions, procedures and systems of the community in a way that will contribute to the welfare and the success of each resident and the community as a whole. An ethical code will be agreed upon by each resident.
We will be providing, on site, continued support services such as medical, mental and dental health; education assistance; employment through job training and search; financial planning; rehabilitation assistance and several classes such as food growing, and sustainability, cooking classes and storage, lessons in civics, nutrition, tutoring and multiple classes in arts for children and families.
They do not, but we strongly encourage them to! Advocacy is a big component of our communities and what better way to get to know your neighbors than to explore and participate in some of our offerings.

All residents coming to Community Roots’ Fruit Valley Terrace are based on referrals from our partner organizations at this time. If you are interested in one day being a resident, please reach out to our partner organizations and see if you are eligible to enroll in their case management services. After they are confident in the maturity of a person or families recovery and wellbeing, they will then refer those individuals to our open units.

Clark County , Washington

At this time, there is no application since we operate on a referral basis for all residents. Our qualifications require that the individuals or families being referred are leaving homelessness and are below 30% of median income in the previous tax year.

We accept new and gently used kitchen tools, furniture, basic food pantry items, household goods and more from individuals and companies. Check out more specific Donation Needs here.

We are always looking for volunteers! There are plenty of opportunities to help. Visit our Volunteer page or just get in touch with us and let us know what you talents and/or interests are, and we’ll get you plugged in!

Community Roots Collaborative is a 501(c) (3) and over 90% of donations go directly to housing/food for the unsheltered in our community.
