Who We Are

DAN
WHITELEY

A life long resident of Vancouver, WA. Dan is an owner of an Executive Search Firm. A.L. Merryman Company.

Dan is actively involved on several boards throughout the community. He is married and the proud father of two.

He has a B.S. degree in Psychology from Washington State University.

HECTOR
HINOJOSA

Hector is the founder of Community Roots Collaborative and is a community leader and mainstay for social activism. 

He also founded and directs Stone Soup Community Meal, has received the Ryan Woods Community Award, is the Immediate Past President of the Southwest Washington League of United Latin American Citizens Council 47013 (SW WA LULAC), and is a 16-year member of the Vancouver Farmers’ Market and past board director there. 

He is involved in several more service organizations.

CHRIS
THOBABEN

Chris grew up on a small farm in Ohio. He spent 8 years in the Marine Corp and is still active with the reserves. A business owner/supply chain consultant improving local and global processes. He is married and proud father of 4.

He has a B.S. degree in Political Science from Miami Univ. and a M.S. degree in Supply Chain Management from Syracuse Univ.

Peggy
Sheehan

Peggy has lived in Vancouver for over forty years and is currently working for Prestige Development.  She is very proud to have had a long career in local government. She is actively involved in other organizations including Outsiders Inn and is a proud supporter of Journey Theatre Group.  Peggy is married and has two grown children and three amazing grandchildren.  

Shelly
Krebs

Shelly grew up in Vancouver and has lived here most of her adult life, with her husband Guy. They enjoy having several members of their extended family in the Vancouver area, as well as five of their grandchildren. Shelly enjoys spending time with family, trips to the beach and gardening.

Shelly is a retired attorney who previously worked in the area of family law. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Administration from City University and completed the Washington State Bar Association’s Law Clerk Program prior to being admitted to the Bar in 1999. She retired from the practice of law in 2021. She currently also serves on the Board of Family Solutions, a children’s mental health provider and volunteers sporadically with other nonprofits in the Vancouver area.

LeeAnn
O'Neil

LeeAnn O’Neil grew up and raised her own children in Vancouver. She’s been an avid volunteer throughout the community and has worked with and alongside many of our local non-profits for almost 20 years. She’s also on the Advisory Board for Salvation Army- Longview Temple Corps and the SWACH HealthConnect Advisory Board.

She currently works for Amerigroup, WA, an Apple Health Managed Care Organization, and knows stable housing is crucial to health and well-being. 

Richard
Kubiniec

Rick was raised in Buffalo, NY and has been a resident of Vancouver, WA since 2004. He has been an owner of a medical practice and converted a building into a professional office space in Orchards. He merged his practice into Seamar Community Health Centers and currently is the Clinic Director of the Women’s Health Center in Salmon Creek and on the Medical Staff at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital. His wife, Sabine Falkenberg is a Program Assistant with Disability
Support Services at Clark College, helping students requiring accommodations to get their needs met.

The loss of quality affordable housing and the impact on people has led then to become strong supporters of Community Roots. In their off time, they enjoy cycling and winter sports with their three adult children.

Nick
Campos

A Clark County resident for nearly 30 years, Nick and his family enjoy calling Vancouver home.  An optimist at heart, he believes that Clark County’s best days lie ahead and enjoys being a positive force towards that end.  Nick was part of the original management team of Market Express, a winner of the fastest growing company in Oregon.  Additionally, Nick works in real estate and is currently President of a consulting company focusing on organizational structure, succession planning and growth strategies.
Nick and his wife Erin are proud parents of four children.  A graduate of both Clark College and Washington State University, he was the recipient of an International Internship Grant that sent him to Thailand.  Nick is also a recipient of the Clark College Foundation’s Outstanding Alumni Award for his work in the community.
